BY REBECCA BENNETT — In 2011 the City of Hyattsville commissioned a facility assessment. Assistant City Administrator Jim Chandler said the report came back that the City’s facilities are in poor to moderate condition with short and long term improvements estimated to cost Hyattsville $9,820,893 over the next 20 years.

The current proposal is to move the Hyattsville Police Department to the former BB&T building at 3505 Hamilton Street, as well as to reuse or redevelop the current City Administration Building at 4310 Gallatin Street, and Arcade Building at 4318 Gallatin Street. Chandler proposed a community meeting be scheduled for January 2015.
