BY PAULA MINAERT — Hyattsville has been named a sustainable community (one of only five) in the state of Maryland. This designation gives the city government, residents, and businesses access to special state funding, such as from the Community Legacy program, State Highway Administration retrofit programs and Neighborhood Business Works. “We’re very proud of this,” said Community Development Manager Jim Chandler.
